ABOUT THE POSITIONThe Content Editor is responsible for researching, writing and editing B2C editorial and promotional content for our digital and print channels, and other marketing collateral, in a fast-paced environment.
This position involves interacting with key stakeholders, subject matter experts and members to identify and create engaging, aspirational, educational and informative content, including feature stories, testimonials, financial advice and supplemental articles that help members and prospective members understand our organization and its products and services.
The Content Editor will regularly engage with the broader Marketing Department, which includes the communication and design teams, to meet editorial schedules.
NORMAL DAY-TO-DAY WORK Plans, researches and writes editorial content for publication in our member magazine in a storytelling capacity, following established operational and editorial procedures.
Writes effective content for our digital and print channels that promotes and educates members and prospective members about our products, services, personal finance best practices and user experiences, among other financial-related content.
Maintains, researches, and revises specific content sections for ongoing factual accuracy, clarity, readability and adherence to compliance regulations.
Ensures content aligns with our mission and vision, and organizational and programmatic goals.
Works with subject matter experts and stakeholders to identify and develop content pertaining to their departments.
Edits and proofreads communication produced by or submitted to the Marketing Department for review.
Uses the Associated Press Stylebook, LGFCU Brand Book and other in-house guides to ensure the accuracy and consistency of content for publication.
Reports to and provides editorial support to the Managing Editor.
Works with the communication team and copywriters to facilitate the development of content.
Collaborates with Marketing strategists to analyze data to increase reader engagement and retention.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS Here are a few qualifications you MUST have to be qualified for this position.
BA/BS degree in marketing, communication, journalism or a related field.
Minimum of 1-3 years of writing and editing experience, with writing samples provided.
Excellent writing and editing skills with the ability to determine if content aligns with organizational and programmatic goals.
Ability to function in a consumer business office environment and use standard office equipment including but not limited to:
Computer, copier, telephone and fax.
Ability to lift a minimum of 25 pounds (file boxes, computer, etc.
).
Travel required on occasion.
Here are a few qualifications we'd LIKE for you to have.
Basic knowledge of industry-standard best practices for SEO in content production.
Experience using style guides such as AP, Chicago and/or other organizational guides.
Experience working in financial services or another highly regulated industry requiring detailed compliance review and/or basic knowledge of marketing compliance regulations.
Attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple projects/priorities while consistently meeting deadlines.
Mac/PC proficient including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and Adobe Acrobat.
